About Emma
I qualified as a solicitor in 2001, initially specialising in Commercial Litigation before moving into risk and compliance in 2007.
Since then, I’ve worked as a COLP and MLRO and led risk & compliance teams for a number of national law firms, most recently as a Director/Head of Legal Practice for a large Alternative Business Structure.
I’ve been with Teal since 2021 and was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2022.
Expertise
I’m passionate about helping lawyers achieve a culture of compliance through a commercially-focussed and pragmatic approach which aligns with business objectives. I’ve gained wide experience in establishing and managing risk and compliance frameworks within the legal services sector and interacting with regulators to protect firms’ interests.
I have also implemented quality frameworks within multi-office national firms including Lexcel, CQS and ISO 9001. I am experienced in managing the compliance aspects of law firm mergers and acquisitions, and I have a particular interest in data protection.
I bring many years of management experience with a strong foundation in leadership, coaching and operational strategy to my role as Chief Operating Officer at Teal. Alongside my operational and legal expertise, I hold a qualification in counselling skills which enhances my ability to build trust, foster collaboration and lead the team with a people-first approach.
Career Highlights
I have been fortunate to work with a diverse range of firms and colleagues. My commercial and litigation experience has leant itself well to a rewarding career in management roles within the risk and compliance field, but the highlight is undoubtedly taking all of those experiences to help build a great team and client service at Teal.
