Part 1. Welcome & Context (10 mins)

- What is fraud? Simple definition
- Why legal firms are a common target
- The role of general staff in fraud prevention
Part 2. Types of Fraud You Might Encounter (20 mins)
Scenarios-based explanations:
- Fake client emails or calls asking for bank details
- Invoice fraud or payment redirection scams
- Internal fraud – someone abusing systems or taking funds
- Cyber fraud: phishing emails and fake websites
- Fraudulent courier or delivery scams
Activity: Spot-the-fraud – read out real examples and discuss in pairs/groups
Part 3. Warning Signs & Red Flags (20 mins)
What to watch for:
- Strange or rushed client instructions
- Last-minute changes to payment details
- Emails with poor grammar, odd formatting, or strange links
- Pressure to bypass normal procedures
- Staff who won’t take holidays or work unusually
